I honestly don’t know where to begin when I talk about my transformation over the past three months. It has been so profound in so many ways! I feel a tremendous swell of pride in both this fitness program and myself whenever I think about how far I have come!
I haven’t been athletically inclined in a very long time, and I wanted to change that- tone up, slim down, and increase my endurance- the whole enchilada! …I went to class 5-6 times a week, every week, through rain, cold, and Thanksgiving. … I learned that each day in a Bar Method class is different- some days certain things feel right, or I am able to take more options with certain exercises, and some days are just rough. I learned to accept some limitations and push others! Through it all, the diligent, exacting eyes, firm and targeted corrections, and warm support of the instructors kept me on track.
I also took a lot of inspiration from Burr’s Blog- specifically, her posts on Mastery and the Four Horses… I was also so inspired by other Challenge participants, particularly BettyLou! Their commitment and perseverance continually renewed my resolve, both in class and throughout my day.
In the end, playing the long game has paid off with dividends! I have lost closer to fifteen pounds than ten, and a total of six inches off my arms, legs, waist, hips, and calves. My stomach has completely changed! I never thought I’d get rid of my little kangaroo pouch, but it has shrunk down to nearly nothing. My shoulders, back, and arms are showing new tone and definition, and I can feel my new strength in everything I do. I look at myself in the mirror and I can’t believe that this woman with great posture, tight muscles, and radiant confidence is the same woman from three months ago.
Probably the most amazing change, though, is that I can’t imagine my life without The Bar Method. It has given me so much! As much as The Bar Method is about targeted sculpting and strengthening of the body, it is also about nurturing the inner self. It might be the part that isn’t visible, but for me, it’s the part that I can’t emphasize enough… Thank you for making me a fitness junkie! It’s by far the best habit I’ve ever developed.
